The Catholic Foundation grants two scholarships each year to students who are sons or daughters of refugees to New Zealand. These scholarships are in memory of two refugees who came to this country — Halina Fladrzynska-Morrow was a Polish child refugee who came to New Zealand from Nazi occupied Poland in 1944 and Joseph Francis Kish who left Hungary and settled in New Zealand in the early 1950s. Both people left bequests to the Foundation. We thank them and acknowledge their generosity. Each Catholic College, State, or Private secondary school, or are home-schooled a Parish Priest may nominate a maximum of two students for a Catholic Foundation scholarship. Each successful scholarship recipient will receive a scholarship of $3000 per year for up to three years towards the cost of full time study for a Degree/Diploma/Certificate course at a New Zealand University or Polytechnic Institute. For renewal, the student must maintain ‚Äúsatisfactory‚Äù by the Foundation Board, which is achieving a B or higher in their courses.
