Scholarship at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya
The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya will launching a pilot programme this year offering language classes at the UOC Centre for Modern Languages to Syrian and Afghani refugees. There is also a plan to expand the pilot by extending the offer to include master's degree, postgraduate and specialization courses, additionally there are plans to increase the number of scholarships. Because this opportunity will be available remotely, there will be a mentoring service available to the students providing them with psychosocial support, motivating and preventing them from dropping out. The UOC will make a special tutor classroom available to the students, offering personalized attention in English throughout the course. The refugee students will also be able to attend an exclusive streaming session to show them how the classrooms and learning tools work. Additionally the UOC will send each student a laptop computer with the operating system pre‑installed and the necessary tools to follow the course.
